There are three styles of rosé in Australia:
Fresh, dry ones for grown-ups, sweet, lolly ones for children, and truly crap ones. Yalumba Limited Release Sangiovese Rosé 2006 ($12) is in a category all of its own, however. It isn't as austere and European as some of the more serious around, but it's a very honest and fresh drink. There's plenty of cherry-berry and a good lick of acid to keep everything upright. And the price is terrific. Apparently there's enough stock around to last until Christmas, but hurry...
