July marks the annual release of Yalumba’s ‘Rare and Fine’ wines - as they are referred to at Yalumba. These are the wines that represent the pinnacle of Yalumba’s winemaking endeavours; wines for which the best vineyards are reserved, wines that receive plenty of winemaking care and attention, and wines that go into Yalumba’s finest oak barrels - those crafted at Yalumba's own cooperage.
This year marks the release of just two wines - Yalumba The Octavius Old Vine Barossa Shiraz 1999 and Yalumba The Signature Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz 1999. The Menzies Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon usually makes a third but this year has been held back another year to bring the vintage into line with The Octavius and The Signature and, in future, will be released as a four-year old wine.
