As the 2010 vintage is knocking, we’d like to share with you a retrospective of 2009 – a year in which Yalumba celebrated 160 years of family winemaking and received an outstanding array of accolades, awards (and the odd agreeable nod of approval) by our industry peers, colleagues and friends around the globe.
Here are a few snippets:
Never too old: Pablo Picasso once said, "It takes a long time to grow young".
On November 17 Yalumba celebrated an unprecedented industry milestone when it marked 160 years of family winemaking. Today Yalumba is a thriving private agribusiness and an internationally recognised leader in the Australian wine industry.
For fifth generation vigneron, Robert Hill Smith, his vision is clear, and that is "to remain innovative and to be internationally recognised as the finest independant winemaker in Australia."
New World Winery of the Year: Wine Enthusiast Magazine US names Yalumba New World Winery of the Year. "Yalumba has become one of the country's most progressive and successful wine producers for their forward-thinking, innovative leadership in the Australian wine industry and an unflagging commitment to quality and family ownership."
