"Yet again Yalumba is looking for the next big thing to entice white wine drinkers, having been a pioneer in propagating and promoting viognier.
Yalumba is now producing some very impressive wines from the Italian grape variety Vermentino, which the company planted at Langhorne Creek. This is being viewed as a style that sits astride Australian riesling and sauvignon blanc, having the sweet nose of tropical fruits and firm white stonefruits, but with nice, tight citric acid keeping the palate as fresh and puckery as lemons plucked straight off the tree. It's a clean, simple, refreshing and moreish summer drink - something the legion of modern savvyblonk drinkers will probably find a pleasant surprise."
