Fruit for the Yalumba Eden Valley Shiraz Viognier 2009 has been sourced entirely from Eden Valley vineyards. There is great diversity across Eden Valley Shiraz vineyards and a wide range of styles are produced, from those with a much finer, subtle aromatic to those that are denser, fuller and much richer. What links them all together is an underlying finesse and purity, the hallmark of Eden Valley Shiraz.
Select batches of Shiraz were fermented with a small percentage of Viognier grapes, whilst other parcels were fermented with Viognier juice. This has produced a soft and stylish wine showing subtle Viognier aromatics combined with the medium weight and finer structure of Shiraz.
Medium to deep red in colour the Yalumba Eden Valley Shiraz Viognier 2009 shows sweet, fresh and fragrant aromatics of red cherries and plums with a spice and clove complexity the complements the subtle perfumed floral hints of Viognier. On the palate the wine is rich and softly textured with characters of red fruits, fine spices and cloves, complemented by the subtle sweet presence of Viognier. Match with beef bourgignon.
