 | The season leading up to the 2002 vintage was cool and wet with above average rainfall across the south east of South Australia. The wet conditions during flowering reduced fruit set considerably with fewer berries per bunch than normal across all varieties and in particular red grapes. The positive of low yields was enhanced colour and fruit concentration.
Yalumba The Menzies Coonawarra Merlot 2002 is medium depth, garnet red. The wine has a full fruit attack with red currants, bouquet garni and a fine spiciness from the French oak. The palate is quite supple being medium bodied with savoury fruit and anise flavours. The mid palate is succulent, long and finishes with soft velvety tannins. Other Vintages2001
