Daniel Kim is a Sydney-based painter who works in the tradition of the Old Masters, transforming three-dimensional worlds into luminous two-dimensional surfaces. Known for his meditative focus, Daniel often completes a work in a single day with technical precision. His practice was profoundly shaped by a decade-long mentorship with the late artist Greg Warburton, honoured in his Self Portrait, holding memories, my mentor Greg Warburton (2023), which debuted in the Archibald Prize. Earlier recognition includes being a finalist in the National Portrait Gallery’s Youth Portrait Prize (2010) and receiving a Highly Commended in the Seed Stitch Award (2018). More recently, Daniel was a finalist in the Archibald Prize in 2024 and 2025.
