Colour is central to Lauren Kerjan’s practice, spanning gouache, watercolour, chalk pastel, digital media and, more recently, embroidered textiles. These mediums empower her to translate fine detail with immense softness, transforming everyday plant and animal subjects into gentle, lyrical beings. Her imagery is highly sought after, with commissions for Westpac, Liberty Specialty Markets and major projects including Love owls and mermaids singing in the rainbow pop (Art Gallery of NSW, 2020) and the City of Sydney’s Midnight Zoo hoardings. Lauren has also collaborated with Red Room Poetry and Corban & Blair, and exhibited widely across Sydney.
