Tasting Note Pale green with a delicate, translucent hue. Expressive and aromatic, showing white nectarine, crisp, fresh pear and chamomile alongside hints of peach iced tea, vanilla pod, fresh green herbs, papaya and jasmine. Subtle exotic notes add depth and intrigue. A fine texture carries through layers of pear and nectarine with a gentle, peppery edge to the palate. The mouthfeel is silky and composed, leading to an elegant finish.
Terroir There is just over a hectare of Grenache Blanc planted at our Yalumba Tri-Centenary vineyard, nestled in between the multiple blocks of Grenache Noir. The vineyard features deep sandy loam layers underlain with red-brown clay. These soils are generally deep and hold large volumes of water within their pores, which easily provides water early in the season, essential for good growth. As temperatures increase and evaporation levels rise, moisture levels in the sand decrease rapidly, the vine is able to draw moisture from the underlying clay.
Best Enjoyed With Enjoy with marinated olives, crusty bread and dips or grilled haloumi with a squeeze of lemon.

Elegant and quietly engaging
This is the third release of Yalumba's Grenache Blanc. From a vineyard planted adjacent to their famed Tri-Centenary vineyard, this is well worth tracking down. Almond blossom and little white field flowers build a welcoming aromatic lift. Canned pear and poached pear fruit mingle with white fleshed peach to fill out the mid palate, framed by fine cinnamon spices and a touch of white pepper. A faint lemon twist appears on the close as those gentle spices hum softly in the background. Elegant and quietly engaging, this is very nicely done.

A palate that is approachable
We’re just starting to see a few examples of this interesting variety emerging in various parts of Australia, and this one comes from a single vineyard in the Vine Vale region of the Barossa. It was pressed to tank, but then it went through some wild yeast fermentation, which appears to have contributed to its texture and complexity. It has a spicy, lifted pear and floral jasmine aroma, and a palate that is approachable with a textured, almost roasted pear character, and a lift of more tart nectarine and lemon. It’s a type of wine you just sit back, sip, and reflect without thinking too much about the problems of the world.
