The Octavius Barossa Old Vine Shiraz
Shiraz 2018- Vintage quality: A wet winter set the vines up for a healthy start to the season. Spring was drier than average and the vines responded quickly; growing and flowering well and setting a good number of bunches. Summer saw warm, dry days with cool nights ripening the grapes and maintaining freshness and natural acidity. The balmy Indian summer of early March helped complete the ripening of these perfectly balanced and flavoured grapes.
- Cellar guide: Will continue to improve in the cellar for 15+ years.
- Last tasted: August 2023, Kevin Glastonbury, Winemaker
- Notes: Deep red in colour with purple hues. Alluring aromas of dark red cherries, red licorice and red raspberries. Aromatically, this is a distinctive wine with red, blue and violet fruits. Everything combines on the palate to give generous, cool, rich flavours, combining the freshness of Eden Valley with the depth of Barossa Valley. Perfectly balanced, elegant and quite simply a beautiful expression of Barossa Shiraz.
